What is a belief? It is the acceptance that something is real or true. However, is a belief not true just because you are the only one that believes it?
Beliefs color how you view the world and make decisions. But how do our beliefs come to be?
Can fear dictate your beliefs? It sure can and we know that fear is a liar, so how does that make it real or true?
If you believe that money is the root of all evil, that can certainly derail any efforts to amass wealth.
If you believe that you’re just not good with people, your social life will suffer.
The thing with beliefs is that they are usually grounded in something that happened to us in the past to make it a reality. I have a fear of snakes, and I believe that all snakes are bad no matter the snake. Where did this come from? I honestly don’t know, but I equate snakes with an evil force, so I think it’s what I learned about Adam & Eve in the Bible as a child. I used to blame my older brother for my fear, because he is my older brother, but then I learned he was just as afraid of them as I am.
My point is, as an adult I know that all snakes are not evil and I still can’t deal with them but I can see that they have a purpose in this world…at least some of them. I am a firm believer that you can’t change your beliefs or overcome them if you don’t know where they came from. Working through your beliefs can be difficult and scary, but in the end you are always so much better for doing the work.
Take some time to dig deep and really explore what you believe and why.
Some journaling ideas around beliefs:
List some of your beliefs about money, yourself, and life in general.
How are those beliefs helping or hurting you?
Where did those beliefs come from?
What lets you know that those beliefs aren’t actually true or real for you?
What beliefs would be helpful for you to manifest and enjoy the life you desire?
What would your life look like if you didn’t have some of those beliefs?
